Are you eager to look amazing for the post-lockdown summer? After a year spent mostly at home, many who were longingly considering Botox are finally doing it for a debut-worthy boost of confidence.
But as the Botox boom continues, there are still so many misconceptions and questions about the procedure. If you’re interested in doing it for yourself, here are some FAQs we receive often.
What is the science behind Botox?
A major cause of wrinkles is the from the use of facial expressions – raising your eyebrows, frowning, squinting and smiling – and the muscle contractions that are involved in making those expressions.
So, here’s how it works: a strain of botulinum toxin (BOTOX) is contained in the injection. When we inject you, the toxin enters your muscles and forces them to relax. When the muscle activity slows down, the wrinkles stop forming and the skin flattens and smooths naturally.
Shouldn’t I wait until my 40s?
It is totally up to you! The thought used to be that Botox was for correcting damage as an older adult. That thought has shifted dramatically. Now, younger individuals are using it to prevent aging skin in the first place. This is absolutely safe and incredibly effective.
Remember, everyone ages differently and everyone wants to look and feel good. Whenever you first start to notice or feel bothered by fine lines and wrinkles, you can have Botox safely. (Ages 18+)
How long will it last?
Botox typically gives you lasting results for about four months. For fine lines, your smoother skin may show longer. But for deep grooves, your treatments might not last as long. Taking care of your skin through medical-grade skincare can help extend the amazing effects of botox.
